Why Does Everything Feel So Intense Right Now? The Astrology of October 5, 2026

Astrology October 5 2026 featuring Venus retrograde in Scorpio, Mars opposite Pluto, Sun opposite Saturn and the Leo Moon with High Desert Medium.

By High Desert Medium | Palm Springs Psychic Medium

Have you felt like everything is a little more intense lately?

Maybe you’ve been more emotional than usual.

Perhaps an old relationship has suddenly been on your mind. Maybe you’ve been questioning things you thought you’d already figured out. You could be feeling impatient, restless, unusually sensitive or simply aware that something in your life needs to change.

If so, today’s astrology is interesting.

October 5, 2026, has quite a bit happening astrologically. The Sun is in Libra, the Moon is moving through Leo, Mercury and retrograde Venus are in Scorpio, Mars and Jupiter are in Leo, while Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are all retrograde.

That’s a lot of energy pulling our attention both inward and outward.

And while I don’t believe the planets control us or take away our free will, astrology can sometimes give us an interesting way to understand the energetic weather surrounding us.

Right now, that weather is intense.

Venus Retrograde: Looking Back Before Moving Forward

Venus turned retrograde in Scorpio on October 3 and will remain retrograde until November 13. Astrologically, Venus is associated with relationships, love, attraction, values, money, pleasure and what we believe we deserve.

Retrogrades are traditionally viewed as periods of review.

And Scorpio doesn’t particularly enjoy staying on the surface.

Scorpio wants to know what’s underneath.

That makes this an interesting time for relationships.

Old feelings can resurface.

Past relationships may suddenly come to mind.

Things we’ve avoided talking about can become harder to ignore.

We may begin questioning whether a relationship still fits the person we’ve become.

And sometimes an actual person from the past can reappear.

That doesn’t necessarily mean we’re supposed to return to that relationship.

Sometimes the past comes back because we’re finally ready to understand it differently.

That’s an important distinction.

Mercury in Scorpio: What Aren’t We Saying?

Mercury is also traveling through Scorpio and moving close to Venus, creating another strong emphasis on thoughts, conversations and feelings that may normally remain beneath the surface.

Scorpio isn’t particularly interested in small talk.

It wants truth.

So you may find yourself thinking about subjects you’ve been avoiding.

You may suddenly understand why something bothered you.

A conversation you’ve been putting off may feel increasingly necessary.

Or you may become aware of something intuitively before you have all the facts to explain it.

This is where I think intuition becomes particularly valuable.

Sometimes the mind spends weeks trying to understand something the intuition recognized immediately.

Sun in Libra Opposite Saturn: Me Versus Us

The Sun is currently in Libra, while Saturn is retrograde in Aries. Their opposition became exact around October 4 and remains active now.

I find the symbolism fascinating.

Libra is strongly associated with partnership, cooperation, fairness and balance.

Aries is associated with individuality, independence and self-direction.

So one of the questions surrounding this period may be:

Where do I end and someone else begins?

How much compromise is healthy?

How much are you giving away simply to keep the peace?

Are you taking responsibility for things that aren’t actually yours?

Or have you become so focused on your own needs that you’ve stopped considering someone else’s?

Sometimes balance isn’t about keeping everybody happy.

Sometimes balance requires boundaries.

Mars Opposite Pluto: Pressure Looking for Somewhere to Go

Mars in Leo is currently opposing Pluto in Aquarius, an aspect that became exact October 3 and remains active into the middle of the month.

In astrology, Mars is associated with action, drive, desire and assertion.

Pluto is associated with power, transformation and things buried beneath the surface.

Put them opposite one another and the energy can feel powerful.

Frustration may be harder to ignore.

Power struggles can become more obvious.

People may feel especially determined to prove themselves or force a situation to change.

But intense energy isn’t automatically negative.

The same determination that creates conflict can also help us finally do something we’ve been afraid to do.

Mars is also interacting harmoniously with Uranus and Neptune during this period, which astrologers associate with breaking old patterns, acting on inspiration and bringing imagination or intuition into action.

The question becomes:

What are you going to do with the energy?

The Leo Moon Turns Up the Volume

Today’s Moon in Leo adds another layer.

Leo wants expression.

It wants to be seen.

It wants to create.

It wants to speak from the heart.

But during October 5, the Moon also forms challenging aspects with Mercury and Venus, while making supportive connections with Saturn and the Libra Sun later in the day.

That can create an interesting emotional progression.

We may initially react.

Then we get the opportunity to understand what we’re reacting to.

There’s a big difference between those two things.

When something triggers us emotionally, our first reaction isn’t always our deepest truth.

Sometimes the reaction is simply pointing toward something that needs our attention.

Don’t Ignore What Keeps Coming Up

This is the part of astrology I find useful.

Not predicting doom.

Not telling someone that a planet is going to ruin their relationship.

Not handing our power over to a birth chart.

Instead, astrology can encourage us to pay attention.

If the same thought keeps returning, why?

If you’re suddenly thinking about an old relationship, what does that relationship represent?

If you’re frustrated with someone, what is underneath the frustration?

If you feel restless, what wants to change?

If something doesn’t feel right, when did you first know it?

Those questions bring us directly into intuition.

Astrology and Psychic Guidance

Astrology and psychic ability aren’t the same thing.

Astrology works through planetary positions, patterns and symbolism.

Psychic information is received intuitively.

But I think they can complement one another beautifully.

Astrology may describe the weather.

Psychic awareness may help us understand how we’re personally experiencing that weather.

Two people can experience exactly the same planetary transit very differently because they’re living completely different lives.

That’s where intuition becomes important.

A psychic reading isn’t about giving away your power or having someone make your decisions for you.

Ideally, it helps you step outside the noise long enough to see what’s happening from another perspective.

Sometimes we already know the answer.

We simply can’t hear ourselves clearly enough to recognize it.

Listen Before You React

With so much Scorpio, Leo and retrograde energy in the current astrology, this may be a particularly good time to slow down before making decisions purely from emotion.

Ask yourself:

What am I actually feeling?

Then go one step deeper.

Why am I feeling it?

And then:

What is my intuition trying to tell me?

Those are three very different questions.

Anger might be covering hurt.

Restlessness might actually be growth.

Missing someone doesn’t necessarily mean you should return to them.

Fear about making a change doesn’t necessarily mean the change is wrong.

And sometimes discomfort appears because we’ve outgrown something we haven’t yet been willing to release.

We’re Moving Toward a New Moon

There’s another reason I think this period is important.

We’re moving toward a New Moon in Libra on October 10, traditionally associated with new beginnings involving balance, relationships, cooperation and the way we relate to others.

That makes the days leading into it feel somewhat like preparation.

What needs reconsidering?

What needs healing?

What needs to be said?

What needs to be released?

And what do you want to carry forward?

Venus retrograde tells us to review.

Scorpio tells us to go deeper.

Libra asks us to find balance.

Leo reminds us not to disappear in the process.

Maybe the current astrology isn’t asking us to immediately fix everything.

Maybe it’s simply asking us to notice what’s coming up.

The Planets Don’t Make Your Decisions

I think this is important enough to say clearly.

You still have free will.

Astrology doesn’t mean something must happen.

A difficult transit doesn’t automatically mean something bad is coming.

And a beautiful transit doesn’t guarantee everything will suddenly become perfect.

Think of astrology like a weather forecast.

If the forecast calls for wind, you don’t have to stay home.

But knowing it’s windy might change how you prepare for the day.

The same can be true spiritually.

Astrology, intuition, psychic guidance, meditation and other spiritual practices can give us additional perspectives.

But ultimately, you still choose what you do with the information.

And perhaps that’s the most useful message in today’s astrology.

Don’t be afraid of intensity.

Get curious about it.

Instead of asking:

“Why is this happening to me?”

Try asking:

“What is this showing me?”

Sometimes that one change in perspective is enough to help us hear what our intuition has been trying to tell us all along.
