Togetherness: How Psychic Mediumship Reminds Us We Are Never Truly Apart

High Desert Medium offering psychic and mediumship readings at the Harvest Moon Health & Wellness Expo in Yucca Valley, California.

By High Desert Medium | Palm Springs Psychic Medium

This weekend, I’ll be doing psychic and mediumship readings at the Harvest Moon “Awakening to Abundance” Health & Wellness Expo in Yucca Valley.

As I was looking at the flyer for the event, something occurred to me.

Look at everything bringing people together.

There will be healers, a sound bath, a drum circle, food, jewelry, pet wellness, psychic and mediumship readings, and people from throughout the High Desert coming together for a day centered around healing and connection.

And I started thinking about togetherness.

Maybe that is one of the things we’re really searching for when we seek healing.

We want to feel connected.

Connected to other people. Connected to ourselves. Connected to something greater than ourselves. And for many of us, connected to the people we love who are no longer physically here.

We Need Each Other

I think sometimes we underestimate how important community is.

We live in a world where it’s possible to do almost everything without interacting with another person. We can work from home, order our groceries, have dinner delivered, communicate through a screen, and go days without having a meaningful conversation with someone face-to-face.

Technology has connected us in incredible ways, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we always feel connected.

There’s something different about actually being together.

Sitting across from another person.

Laughing together.

Sharing experiences.

Listening to someone’s story.

Helping someone who’s having a difficult day.

Being surrounded by people who may have completely different lives but who, for a few hours, are sharing the same space and experience.

There’s energy in that.

And I believe there’s healing in it too.

Maybe Heaven Is the Ultimate Togetherness

None of us can say with certainty exactly what Heaven looks like.

But I sometimes wonder if one of the best ways to imagine it is through togetherness.

Think about the people you’ve loved throughout your life.

Parents. Grandparents. Partners. Friends. Siblings. Children. Teachers. Neighbors. And, yes, the animals who became part of our families.

Imagine all of that separation disappearing.

No distance.

No schedules.

No disagreements that seemed so important while we were here.

No physical body keeping us in one place.

Just connection.

Maybe Heaven isn’t about streets of gold or clouds or any of the images we’ve created to help ourselves understand something that may be impossible to fully comprehend while we’re here.

Maybe part of Heaven is simply the experience of knowing that we belong to one another.

I like that idea.

Death Creates Separation — But Does It End Connection?

When someone we love dies, one of the hardest things is the sudden physical separation.

We can’t pick up the phone and call them.

We can’t sit down and have dinner with them.

We can’t ask their advice the way we once did.

There’s an empty chair where a person used to be.

But one of the things mediumship has taught me is that physical absence doesn’t necessarily mean the relationship has ended.

The relationship changes.

I believe the connection continues.

That is one of the reasons evidential mediumship can be so meaningful.

Mediumship creates a bridge between two experiences of existence: those of us living our lives here and the people we love who have moved into Spirit.

Mediumship Is About Bringing People Together

People sometimes think mediumship is primarily about predicting things or receiving mysterious messages.

That’s not how I see my work.

For me, mediumship is about connection.

When I sit with someone for a mediumship reading, I’m trying to provide enough information for that person to recognize who I’m connecting with.

Personality.

Memories.

Relationships.

Experiences.

Little details that may mean absolutely nothing to me but mean everything to the person receiving them.

Those moments can create something extraordinary.

For a little while, the separation between here and there doesn’t seem quite as large.

Two people who can no longer sit in the same room can, in their own way, be brought together again.

That is one of the things I love most about this work.

Psychic Readings Create Connection Too

Psychic readings are different from mediumship readings, but I think connection is important there as well.

Sometimes we become so wrapped up in our own lives that we can’t see our situation clearly.

We worry.

We overthink.

We replay the same questions over and over.

Should I stay?

Should I leave?

Is this relationship right for me?

Should I take the opportunity?

Why do I feel stuck?

What am I not seeing?

A psychic reading gives us an opportunity to slow down and look at those questions differently.

Sometimes what we need isn’t someone to make a decision for us.

We simply need another perspective that helps us reconnect with what we already know somewhere inside ourselves.

Healing Happens in Community

That’s why I’m looking forward to this weekend’s event in Yucca Valley.

I’ll be there to give psychic and mediumship readings, but I’ll also be surrounded by people offering their own forms of healing and connection.

Some people may experience it through sound.

Some through meditation.

Some through energy work.

Some through conversation.

Some through connecting with Spirit.

And some may simply come out, walk around, meet people, eat something good, laugh, and enjoy being part of a community for the day.

I think all of those things have value.

Because healing doesn’t always happen alone.

Sometimes healing happens when people come together.

Perhaps We’re More Connected Than We Realize

I believe we are Spirit first.

We’re having individual experiences, living individual lives, and learning our own lessons.

But perhaps underneath all of that individuality is something much larger connecting us.

Every once in a while, we get a glimpse of it.

We feel it when a room full of strangers suddenly feels like a community.

We feel it when someone shows kindness without expecting anything in return.

We feel it when we think about someone we love and suddenly sense their presence.

And sometimes we feel it during a mediumship reading when something comes through that reminds us that love didn’t disappear when someone died.

Maybe those moments are little reminders.

We’re not as separate as we sometimes think we are.

And perhaps that’s one of the closest glimpses of Heaven we can experience while we’re still here.
