When most people hear the word disclosure, they probably think about the government finally announcing that UFOs—or UAPs, as they’re more commonly called today—are real and that we are not alone.
Maybe disclosure will eventually include something like that.
But I’ve been thinking about disclosure differently.
What if disclosure isn’t one enormous announcement made from a podium in Washington?
What if it’s already happening one person at a time?
For one person, it might be seeing something in the sky that they simply cannot explain. For someone else, it might be a direct encounter with what they believe is a nonhuman intelligence. Another person may experience an unmistakable presence in their mind. Someone else may encounter beings during a vivid dream.
And then there are people who say they communicate directly with nonhuman consciousness through channeling.
If we broaden our definition of disclosure, the subject becomes much bigger than UFOs.
It becomes a conversation about consciousness itself.
Disclosure Doesn’t Have to Come From the Government
Government interest in UAPs has certainly brought the subject into mainstream conversation. But an unidentified object is exactly that: unidentified. Seeing something unexplained does not automatically tell us where it came from or what it is.
For me, the more interesting question is what happens when the experience becomes personal.
Throughout history, people have reported encounters with things they couldn’t easily explain. Today, those reports include unusual objects in the sky, direct encounters, telepathic experiences, dreams, altered states of consciousness and channeling.
Not every unusual experience necessarily has the same explanation. And we shouldn’t automatically assume every dream, intuitive impression or strange light in the sky involves extraterrestrials.
But I don’t think we should automatically dismiss people’s experiences either.
Perhaps disclosure has many forms.
There could be government disclosure, where institutions release information about unexplained phenomena.
And there could be personal disclosure, when an individual experiences something that changes their understanding of reality.
The second may ultimately be much more powerful.
What If Contact Happens Through Consciousness?
This is where the subject becomes especially fascinating to me as a psychic medium.
We tend to think of contact as something physical.
A craft lands. A door opens. Something walks out.
But what if consciousness itself can also be a means of contact?
People report experiences in which they don’t physically see a being standing in front of them, yet they describe becoming aware of another presence. Some report thoughts or information entering their awareness. Others describe encounters during dreams or meditation.
And some people channel what they believe to be nonhuman intelligence.
One of the best-known examples is Darryl Anka, who says he has channeled an extraterrestrial being called Bashar since the 1980s. Bashar Communications describes Bashar as a physical extraterrestrial intelligence communicating through Anka.
Whether you believe Bashar is actually extraterrestrial is a separate question.
What interests me is the phenomenon itself.
A person changes their normal state of consciousness and reports accessing an intelligence they experience as separate from their everyday personality.
And Anka is far from alone.
Research from the Institute of Noetic Sciences has examined trance channelers who report communication with extraterrestrial intelligence. In research discussed by IONS in 2026, more than one-third of trance channelers surveyed identified their communicant as extraterrestrial.
That’s a surprisingly large number.
It doesn’t prove that those individuals are communicating with extraterrestrials. Even the researchers make that distinction. But it does tell us that alleged nonhuman communication is a significant part of the modern channeling phenomenon.
And that raises a fascinating question:
What exactly is consciousness capable of connecting with?
Maybe Consciousness Works Like a Receiver
I’ve often thought of psychic and mediumistic ability somewhat like tuning a radio.
There may be countless radio signals passing through the room you’re sitting in right now. You don’t hear them because your radio isn’t tuned to those frequencies.
Turn the dial, and suddenly music appears.
The music wasn’t created when you turned the dial.
You simply changed what you were receiving.
I think consciousness may work in a similar way.
I don’t necessarily mean that psychic information operates on a measurable radio frequency. I’m using frequency as a way of describing different states of awareness.
Our normal waking consciousness is focused primarily on physical reality. We’re paying attention to our surroundings, conversations, work, phones, responsibilities and everything else happening around us.
But our focus can change.
Meditation can change it.
Dreaming changes it.
Deep relaxation changes it.
Intuitive awareness can change it.
And channeling certainly appears to involve an altered focus of consciousness.
Perhaps changing our state of awareness allows us to perceive information that normally sits outside our everyday attention.
Psychic Mediumship Is Already About Changing the Dial
This idea isn’t foreign to mediumship.
When I give an evidential mediumship reading, I’m not expecting someone’s deceased mother, father, spouse or friend to physically walk through the door.
The communication is experienced differently.
Information may come through a feeling.
An image.
A memory.
A personality characteristic.
A physical sensation.
A sudden knowing.
A word or thought that seems to arrive unexpectedly.
Mediums traditionally describe these different forms of perception through the clairs: clairvoyance, clairsentience, claircognizance, clairaudience and other intuitive senses.
In my work, I have to shift my attention away from ordinary analytical thinking and become receptive to those impressions.
In a sense, I change the station.
That’s why I find the relationship between mediumship, channeling and alleged extraterrestrial contact so interesting.
The claimed source may be different, but there are similarities in the way people describe receiving the information.
A medium may say they are communicating with someone in Spirit.
A channeler may say they are communicating with a collective consciousness.
Another channeler may describe an extraterrestrial intelligence.
Someone having an unusual contact experience may simply say, “I knew something else was there.”
What if these experiences are different expressions of a much larger ability of consciousness?
Dreams May Be Another Doorway
Dreams are another fascinating part of this conversation.
I’ve written before about visitation dreams involving loved ones in Spirit. Many people describe those dreams as completely different from ordinary dreams. They may be unusually vivid, emotionally powerful and accompanied by an overwhelming sense that the person was actually present.
People also report dreams involving beings or intelligences they interpret as nonhuman.
Are all of those experiences literal encounters?
I can’t say that.
Dreams can obviously be created by our own minds, memories, emotions and experiences.
But I also don’t believe we understand everything consciousness is capable of doing while the physical mind is asleep.
Perhaps some dreams are simply dreams.
Perhaps others allow consciousness to operate differently because our normal mental filters have quieted down.
If consciousness is capable of accessing information beyond our ordinary waking awareness, dreaming would seem like a natural place for that to happen.
Channeling Research Is Asking Some Interesting Questions
What I find encouraging is that researchers are beginning to study these experiences rather than simply arguing about whether people should believe them.
The Institute of Noetic Sciences has been studying channeling for years.
In 2026, IONS researchers described work comparing reports from independent trance channelers who said they were communicating with extraterrestrial intelligences. Their research found measurable similarities and shared themes in some of the independently produced accounts.
The researchers were very clear about what this does not establish.
It doesn’t prove that extraterrestrials were actually communicating with the channelers.
Possible explanations could include shared cultural ideas, characteristics of human consciousness, or an external source that we don’t yet understand.
I think that’s exactly where the question should remain for now.
Open.
Curious.
And worthy of exploration.
Disclosure Could Be an Expansion of Human Awareness
Maybe we’ve been imagining disclosure too narrowly.
We picture the government releasing documents, displaying photographs or admitting that something extraordinary has been happening.
That would certainly be significant.
But imagine something much bigger.
What if disclosure ultimately means humanity realizing that consciousness is far more expansive than we’ve been taught to believe?
Then UFOs would only be one piece of the puzzle.
Mediumship would be another.
Psychic ability another.
Channeling another.
Telepathy another.
Dream encounters another.
And experiences involving nonhuman intelligence could be another.
Perhaps the common denominator isn’t spacecraft.
Perhaps it’s consciousness.
What If We’re Learning to Tune In?
I believe we are Spirit first.
Our physical lives are incredibly important, but I don’t believe our physical senses show us everything that exists.
Mediumship has taught me to pay attention to information that arrives differently.
Sometimes you don’t see something with your physical eyes.
You sense it.
You feel it.
You know it.
And perhaps humanity is slowly becoming more comfortable acknowledging those other ways of experiencing reality.
If intelligent life exists elsewhere—and if consciousness is not limited in the ways we traditionally assume—then perhaps contact wouldn’t necessarily require something to travel across enormous distances and land on the White House lawn.
Maybe some forms of contact could happen through consciousness itself.
I don’t claim to know.
But I think it’s a question worth asking.
And perhaps that’s what disclosure will ultimately look like.
Not one dramatic announcement.
Millions of individual experiences.
One person sees something.
Another person senses something.
Another encounters something in a dream.
Another channels.
Another begins discovering their own psychic awareness.
And slowly, person by person, our understanding of consciousness—and our place in the universe—becomes a little larger.
Maybe disclosure isn’t something we’re waiting for.
Maybe it’s something we’re already experiencing.
