There’s something special about Palm Springs. Maybe it’s the mountains, the desert sunshine, the architecture, or the fascinating people who have called this place home.

Or perhaps it’s the feeling that the past is never very far away.

With Palm Springs Modernism Week returning October 15–18, 2026, our desert community is once again celebrating the extraordinary architecture, design, and culture that helped make this destination famous.

But as a psychic medium living and working in the Coachella Valley, I can’t help looking at this celebration from a slightly different perspective.

When we preserve an old home, cherish a family heirloom, or tell stories about someone who lived decades ago, we’re doing something deeply human.

We’re keeping memories alive.

And in many ways, that’s something I experience every day through psychic mediumship.

What Makes Palm Springs Modernism Week So Special?

Palm Springs has one of the most recognizable collections of midcentury modern architecture in the country.

During the middle of the twentieth century, architects and designers embraced a new vision of desert living. Homes featured clean lines, open floor plans, expansive windows, and indoor-outdoor spaces that celebrated the surrounding landscape.

Architects such as Albert Frey, William Krisel, and E. Stewart Williams helped establish the architectural identity we associate with Palm Springs today.

Modernism Week celebrates that remarkable history through architectural tours, educational presentations, exhibitions, and special events.

The October 2026 celebration offers opportunities to explore historic neighborhoods, visit architecturally significant homes, and discover the people and ideas behind these remarkable properties.

For architecture enthusiasts, it’s a wonderful opportunity to experience another era.

For me, it’s also a reminder of how much history can live within the walls of a home.

Every Home Has a Story

Think about a house that’s been standing for 60 or 70 years.

How many conversations have taken place inside those walls?

How many families have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and other milestones there?

How many people have fallen in love, experienced heartbreak, raised children, welcomed friends, or said goodbye to someone they cherished?

When we admire a beautiful midcentury home, we’re often focused on its architecture, furnishings, and design.

But there’s another dimension to that home: the lives that unfolded within it.

I believe places can hold tremendous emotional significance.

You may have experienced that yourself.

Perhaps you’ve walked into your childhood home after many years and immediately remembered something you’d completely forgotten.

Maybe you’ve visited a grandparent’s house and suddenly recalled the smell of a favorite meal or the sound of their laughter.

These experiences remind us how closely our memories are connected to the places we’ve known.

And for those of us interested in spirituality, they raise another fascinating question.

Can places also carry an energetic connection to the people who once lived there?

Can Historic Homes Hold Spiritual Energy?

In spiritual traditions, some people believe buildings and locations can retain impressions associated with past experiences.

You may have heard this described as residual energy or an energetic imprint.

The idea is that significant emotional events somehow leave a lasting impression on a location.

Although this hasn’t been scientifically established, it’s an interesting concept within psychic and paranormal traditions.

Some people describe entering a building and immediately feeling peaceful, unsettled, nostalgic, or unusually connected to its history.

Of course, architecture, lighting, sound, temperature, and our own expectations can also influence how a place feels.

But I believe there’s value in remaining curious about our experiences.

As a psychic medium, I’m particularly interested in the relationship between people, memory, and the impressions we sometimes receive intuitively.

That doesn’t mean every old building is haunted or that every unusual feeling has a spiritual explanation.

Sometimes an old house is simply an old house!

But I think there’s something wonderful about appreciating both the physical beauty of a place and the human stories connected to it.

Old Hollywood and the Spiritual Side of Palm Springs

Palm Springs has long been associated with Hollywood glamour.

During the midcentury era, entertainers and public figures found refuge here, away from the demands of Los Angeles.

Frank Sinatra, Dinah Shore, and numerous other celebrities became part of the desert’s cultural history.

Their homes, favorite gathering places, and personal stories remain part of what makes Palm Springs so interesting.

Modernism Week offers visitors opportunities to learn about these personalities and the architecture associated with their lives.

But beyond the famous names, I find myself thinking about the thousands of ordinary people whose stories are equally important.

The families who built lives here.

The people who worked in local businesses, maintained beautiful homes, and helped create the communities we enjoy today.

Every generation leaves something behind.

Sometimes it’s a building. Sometimes it’s a photograph or a treasured possession.

And sometimes it’s the love and memories that continue through the people who knew them.

Objects, Memories, and Our Connection to Loved Ones in Spirit

Have you ever held something that belonged to a loved one who passed away and immediately felt close to them?

Perhaps it was a piece of jewelry, an old photograph, a favorite chair, or even something as simple as a handwritten recipe.

These objects can carry tremendous emotional meaning.

In psychic traditions, there’s a practice called psychometry, which involves attempting to receive intuitive impressions through physical objects.

Some practitioners believe they can perceive information associated with an object’s owner or history.

Whether someone interprets those impressions spiritually or psychologically, there’s no denying that personal belongings can evoke powerful memories.

In evidential mediumship, objects and memories can also become meaningful parts of a reading.

A loved one in Spirit may be described through a favorite possession, an unusual habit, a recognizable personality trait, or a shared experience.

These details are important because they can help the person receiving the reading recognize who is being communicated.

For me, the value of mediumship isn’t simply in receiving a message.

It’s in the meaningful details that help someone recognize a relationship that mattered deeply to them.

Preserving Architecture and Preserving Our Personal Histories

One of the things I appreciate about Modernism Week is its emphasis on preservation.

Historic homes aren’t preserved simply because they’re old.

They’re preserved because they represent creativity, cultural history, and the lives of the people who shaped a community.

I see a parallel with the way we preserve our personal histories.

We keep photographs, share family stories, save letters, and pass treasured possessions from one generation to the next.

Why?

Because we don’t want those connections to disappear.

And when someone we love passes away, that desire to maintain a connection can become even stronger.

For many people, grief isn’t just about missing someone’s physical presence.

It’s about missing their voice, their personality, their advice, and the ordinary moments that made the relationship special.

In my work as a psychic medium, I meet people who are hoping to experience that connection again.

Some are seeking reassurance. Others have questions they never had the opportunity to ask.

And some simply want to know that the love they shared continues.

Palm Springs: A Place for Reflection and Renewal

Beyond its architecture and famous history, Palm Springs has something else that makes it special.

The desert itself.

There’s a certain stillness here that I find difficult to describe.

The mountains, the wide-open skies, the changing light, and the quiet beauty of the landscape can encourage us to slow down and reflect.

Maybe that’s part of why so many people come here seeking a break from their everyday lives.

And perhaps it’s also why Palm Springs can be such a meaningful place for personal reflection and spiritual exploration.

You don’t have to be interested in psychic mediumship to appreciate that.

Sometimes simply stepping away from our normal routine gives us an opportunity to look at life differently.

We begin asking questions.

What really matters to me?

What am I holding onto?

What would I like to change?

And how can I live with greater meaning and purpose?

Those are questions I often encounter in my psychic guidance and personal transformation work.

I simply encourage people to approach the experience with curiosity and an open mind.

Whether you’re hoping to connect with a loved one in Spirit or looking for guidance about your own life, my intention is to provide a compassionate and meaningful experience.

Because sometimes, while we’re exploring the history of a beautiful place, we also discover something meaningful about ourselves.

Celebrating the Past While Embracing the Future

Modernism Week reminds us that the past doesn’t have to disappear simply because time moves forward.

Beautiful buildings can be preserved.

Stories can be remembered.

And the influence of those who came before us can continue shaping our lives.

I believe something similar is true of the relationships we share with those we love.

Physical life changes. People pass away. Generations come and go.

But the love we experience, the memories we create, and the influence we have on one another can continue long after we’re gone.

That’s one of the reasons I find my work as a psychic medium so meaningful.

As Palm Springs celebrates its architectural heritage, I hope we’ll also remember the people and personal stories that give those beautiful buildings their meaning.

After all, a home is more than its walls, and a life is more than the years we spend here.
