There is something about September that feels different.
Even here in the California desert, where September certainly doesn’t mean sweaters and chilly autumn mornings, there is still a sense that one season is beginning to give way to another.
The days are getting shorter. Summer is winding down. Routines begin changing. And for many of us, something seems to shift internally as well.
You may find yourself thinking more about your life lately.
Am I happy?
Am I where I want to be?
Is this relationship still right for me?
Do I want to continue doing what I’m doing?
What’s next?
Sometimes these questions appear because something obvious has happened. But other times, nothing has changed on the outside at all.
You simply feel different.
And that feeling is worth paying attention to.
Sometimes You Feel Change Before You Can Explain It
One of the things I’ve learned through psychic work is that our intuitive awareness often recognizes change before our conscious mind catches up.
You may not be able to explain why you’re restless.
You may have a perfectly reasonable life on paper and still feel as though something is missing.
Maybe you’ve suddenly started thinking about changing careers.
Perhaps a relationship that once felt comfortable doesn’t feel quite the same anymore.
You might feel drawn toward a place you’ve never considered living, a subject you’ve never studied, or something you’ve always wanted to do but continually put off.
There doesn’t necessarily have to be a logical explanation for the feeling.
Sometimes intuition begins with nothing more than a quiet internal message:
It’s time.
The Beginning of a New Month Can Feel Like a Reset
January gets all the attention when we talk about new beginnings.
But September has always had its own kind of “new year” energy.
For many of us, that association begins in childhood. September meant going back to school, entering a new grade, meeting new people, learning new things and beginning another chapter.
Those associations can stay with us.
September also marks the gradual transition from summer toward fall. Nature itself begins moving into another phase.
Transitions like these can encourage us to look inward.
What am I carrying with me?
What am I ready to leave behind?
And what would I like the next chapter of my life to look like?
You don’t need to make a dramatic life change simply because the calendar changed.
But when you already feel something stirring inside you, a transition point can make that feeling much harder to ignore.
Signs You May Be Ready for a Change
Change doesn’t always announce itself with flashing lights.
Often, it begins quietly.
You might notice that you’re more restless than usual. Things you once enjoyed don’t excite you in quite the same way.
You may find yourself daydreaming about another kind of life.
Perhaps you’re noticing more coincidences or synchronicities.
You might be having vivid dreams.
Your intuition may seem stronger.
Or maybe you simply have a persistent feeling that there must be something more.
None of these things automatically means that you should quit your job, end a relationship, sell your house and move across the country.
Sometimes the change we need is external.
Other times, the change is happening within us.
That’s why understanding what you’re feeling is so important.
Intuition Doesn’t Always Shout
People sometimes expect intuition to arrive as a booming voice giving them unmistakable instructions.
Usually, it doesn’t work that way.
Intuition can be subtle.
It might be a thought that keeps returning.
A feeling in your stomach.
A sudden sense that you should—or shouldn’t—do something.
An unexpected idea.
A dream that stays with you after you wake up.
Or that strange feeling of knowing something without knowing how you know it.
The challenge is that our logical minds are very good at talking us out of these feelings.
We tell ourselves we’re imagining things.
We’re being unrealistic.
We should be grateful for what we already have.
We shouldn’t rock the boat.
And sometimes those thoughts are reasonable. Intuition doesn’t mean abandoning common sense.
But there’s also a difference between making an impulsive decision and becoming curious about a feeling that simply refuses to go away.
Ask Yourself What You’re Really Feeling
If you’ve been feeling restless lately, don’t immediately ask yourself:
“What should I change?”
Try asking:
“What is this feeling trying to tell me?”
Those are two very different questions.
Give yourself permission to explore the answer without immediately acting on it.
Maybe you don’t actually need a new career. Perhaps you need more creativity in the career you already have.
Maybe you don’t need to leave your relationship. Perhaps there’s something you’ve been afraid to communicate.
Maybe you don’t need to move somewhere new. Perhaps you’re craving adventure and need to introduce something different into your life.
And sometimes, yes, you may realize that a much larger change really is necessary.
The goal isn’t to force an answer.
It’s to listen.
Why Change Can Feel Uncomfortable
Even positive change can scare us.
We like certainty.
The familiar may not make us completely happy, but at least we know what to expect from it.
The unknown doesn’t offer that guarantee.
That’s one reason people sometimes remain in situations long after they’ve realized those situations no longer serve them.
There can be a strange comfort in familiarity—even when we’re unhappy.
But growth often asks us to tolerate a period when we don’t know exactly what’s going to happen next.
You can know that something needs to change without knowing exactly what the new version of your life will look like.
Those two things can exist at the same time.
How a Psychic Reading Can Help During Times of Change
People sometimes think the purpose of a psychic reading is simply to predict the future.
That’s not how I view it.
A good psychic reading can also help bring clarity to the present.
When you’re standing at a crossroads, it can be difficult to separate intuition from fear, hope, expectations and all the other voices running through your mind.
A psychic reading may help you look at your circumstances from another perspective.
It can highlight possibilities.
It can help validate something you’ve already been sensing.
It may bring attention to an issue you’ve overlooked.
And sometimes it simply helps you ask better questions about what you really want.
I don’t believe anyone should hand control of their life over to a psychic.
Your choices remain yours.
Your free will remains yours.
A reading should help you understand your path more clearly—not take away your ability to choose it.
You Don’t Have to Know Where You’re Going Yet
This may be one of the most important things to remember when you’re going through a period of change.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
Sometimes we put enormous pressure on ourselves to know the entire plan before taking even the first step.
Life rarely works that way.
You may only know that something doesn’t feel right anymore.
That’s information.
You may only know that you’re curious about something new.
That’s information too.
Instead of demanding an immediate answer from yourself, become curious.
Pay attention to what excites you.
Notice what drains you.
Listen to the thoughts that keep returning.
Notice the people, ideas and opportunities that seem to appear at exactly the right time.
And above all, pay attention to yourself.
September Can Be an Invitation
Maybe September doesn’t need to be about making resolutions.
Maybe it can simply be about checking in.
Where are you right now?
What has changed in you during the past year?
What are you ready to release?
What would you like more of?
And what part of yourself have you been ignoring?
You don’t have to completely reinvent your life this month.
You don’t even have to change anything.
But if you’ve been feeling that quiet internal nudge telling you that something is shifting, this may be a good time to listen to it.
Because sometimes the beginning of change doesn’t feel like certainty.
It feels like curiosity.
It feels like restlessness.
It feels like possibility.
And sometimes it begins with a simple thought:
Maybe I’m ready for something new.
