If yesterday felt a little strange, emotional, exhausting, restless, or simply different, you weren’t alone.
Last night brought us an unusually powerful celestial combination: the Full Moon in Pisces accompanied by a deep partial lunar eclipse. At the height of the eclipse, nearly the entire Moon was covered by Earth’s shadow.
And for people who are sensitive to energy, yesterday may have felt particularly intense.
You may have felt tired for no apparent reason. You might have been unusually emotional, anxious, restless, nostalgic, or unable to concentrate. Memories you hadn’t thought about in years may have suddenly surfaced. Relationships or situations you thought you had made peace with may have returned to your thoughts.
Or perhaps you simply had that difficult-to-explain feeling that something was shifting.
From an astrological and spiritual perspective, that makes sense.
Why Full Moons Can Feel So Intense
For thousands of years, cultures around the world have paid attention to the Moon and its cycles.
The Moon has traditionally been associated with emotions, intuition, the subconscious mind, dreams, memory, and our inner world. A Full Moon represents illumination — things that have been hidden beneath the surface can suddenly become easier to see.
Think about what happens physically during a Full Moon.
The Moon isn’t producing more light. The Sun is illuminating the side of the Moon facing Earth.
Symbolically, that’s a beautiful metaphor for what can happen within us.
Something that was already there becomes illuminated.
An emotion.
A memory.
A realization.
A relationship that needs attention.
A decision we’ve been avoiding.
Or perhaps an intuitive feeling we’ve been trying to ignore.
The Full Moon doesn’t necessarily create these things. Instead, spiritually speaking, it can act like a spotlight.
And last night’s Full Moon had something extra attached to it.
This Wasn’t Just a Full Moon
The August 27 lunar eclipse was an exceptionally deep partial eclipse.
At maximum eclipse, approximately 96% of the Moon entered Earth’s darkest shadow. Visually, it came extremely close to appearing like a total lunar eclipse.
Astrologically, eclipses have traditionally been viewed as periods of acceleration, revelation, endings, beginnings, and change.
That’s one reason eclipse periods can sometimes feel uncomfortable.
We like predictability.
We like knowing what’s coming next.
But change doesn’t always ask our permission.
Sometimes something has to leave before something new has room to enter.
And sometimes we have to finally acknowledge something we’ve known intuitively for a very long time.
Why Yesterday May Have Felt Emotional
Last night’s Full Moon and eclipse occurred in Pisces.
Pisces is associated astrologically with intuition, dreams, spirituality, compassion, sensitivity, imagination, and the unseen.
That makes this particular Full Moon especially interesting to me as a psychic medium.
Pisces energy asks us to move beyond what we can see, touch, measure, and logically explain.
It asks:
What are you feeling?
What is your intuition telling you?
What have you been sensing but ignoring?
For some people, yesterday may have brought emotional clarity.
For others, it may have felt like emotional overload.
You may have wanted more solitude than usual. You may have felt unusually sensitive to other people’s moods. Your dreams may have been stronger or stranger. You may have found yourself thinking about someone who has passed.
You may even have experienced one of those moments where you suddenly knew something without understanding exactly how you knew it.
Those are the experiences I find particularly interesting.
Why Do Planetary Occurrences Affect Us?
This is where astronomy, astrology, spirituality, and personal belief begin to intersect.
Astronomically, the Moon unquestionably has physical effects on Earth. Its gravitational relationship with our planet is the primary driver of ocean tides.
Astrology takes the relationship further and proposes that celestial cycles correspond with patterns in human experience, emotion, personality, and change.
That isn’t the same thing as saying that a planet is remotely controlling your behavior.
I think of it differently.
We are part of nature.
We’re not standing outside the universe watching it happen.
We are living inside it.
The atoms in our bodies came from the same universe as the Moon, Sun, planets, and stars. We evolved on a planet governed by cycles — daylight and darkness, seasons, tides, lunar months, birth, growth, death, and renewal.
Our lives are filled with rhythms.
So I don’t find it particularly strange that many people feel more connected to themselves, their emotions, or their intuition during certain celestial events.
Some People Feel These Shifts More Than Others
This is important.
Not everyone felt something dramatic yesterday.
And there’s nothing wrong with that.
Just as some people walk into a room and immediately sense tension while another person notices absolutely nothing, people seem to have different levels of energetic sensitivity.
I’ve talked about this before when discussing psychic ability.
I believe intuition exists on a spectrum.
Some people naturally pick up subtle information very easily. Others have learned to tune much of it out.
And some people begin noticing these abilities later in life.
Periods of intense emotional or spiritual change can sometimes make people more aware of their intuition.
That’s why events like eclipses can be interesting opportunities to pay attention.
Not because something terrible is going to happen.
Not because the Moon is controlling you.
But because you may become more aware of what’s already happening inside you.
Full Moons, Eclipses and Spirit Communication
There is another side to this that fascinates me.
When people become emotionally open and internally quiet, they sometimes become more receptive to subtle information.
That can include intuition.
It can include memories.
And sometimes it can include signs or impressions associated with loved ones in Spirit.
Maybe you suddenly think about your mother for no obvious reason.
A song associated with someone who passed begins playing.
You dream vividly about someone you haven’t dreamed about in years.
You notice a familiar scent.
Or a memory suddenly enters your mind with remarkable clarity.
I don’t believe we need to chase these experiences or force them.
I believe we need to notice them.
Sometimes the most meaningful communication is subtle.
What Should You Do After an Eclipse?
You don’t need an elaborate ritual.
Instead, pay attention.
Ask yourself:
What came up for me yesterday?
Was I unusually emotional?
Did I suddenly understand something differently?
Did someone repeatedly come to mind?
Did I have an unusual dream?
Was there something I’ve been avoiding that suddenly became impossible to ignore?
And perhaps most importantly:
What is my intuition trying to tell me right now?
You don’t have to immediately act on every feeling.
Sometimes awareness itself is enough.
Give things a little room.
Maybe We’re More Connected Than We Realize
Events like last night’s eclipse remind me how enormous the universe is — and at the same time, how connected we are to it.
We sometimes live as though we’re separate from nature.
We’re not.
We’re part of it.
And perhaps intuition is another expression of that connection.
The next time you experience a Full Moon, eclipse, planetary shift, or simply one of those days when the world feels energetically different, don’t immediately dismiss what you’re feeling.
Become curious about it.
Pay attention to your emotions.
Pay attention to your dreams.
Pay attention to those thoughts that seem to arrive from nowhere.
And most of all, pay attention to your intuition.
Sometimes the quietest feeling inside us has the most to say.
