For most of my life, my psychic experiences were unpredictable.


They came and went without warning—like a muscle spasm I couldn’t control. Sometimes I would think of someone and they would call moments later. Other times, I would picture something in my mind and then see it happen in real time, as if I were just a step behind reality itself.


There were moments that were harder to explain.


I’ve sat bolt upright in bed seconds before a loud crash—only to hear a picture fall or a car accident unfold outside. I’ve had instant knowing about people I shouldn’t trust, sometimes accompanied by flashes of behavior that made no logical sense at the time, but later proved accurate.

And yet, despite all of this, I had no control over it.


I couldn’t turn it on. I couldn’t rely on it. And when I tried to “perform,” I often failed.


Early Experiences That Didn’t Make Sense


Some experiences stayed with me longer than others.


As a child, I remember being at someone’s house when the phone rang. Before anyone answered, I burst into tears. I knew—without being told—that the call was about my dog being hit by a car.


Another time, I knew that just around a bend in the road there would be a tunnel and a broken-down white car. No one else in the car believed me. None of us had ever been on that road before.


But it was there.


Moments like these weren’t rare—but they weren’t reliable either.


And that’s what made it frustrating. For every moment of accuracy, there were just as many moments where nothing happened at all.


The Turning Point: When Everything Changed


Everything shifted in a moment I wasn’t expecting.


I was in a trance-like state, cooking lunch for a friend who worked for the city of Palm Springs. My hands were moving automatically, but my mind was elsewhere—thinking about something I had wondered many times before: how do I develop this ability?

At that exact moment, my phone rang.


A woman introduced herself as Donna, a hypnotist and psychic medium based in Florida. She had a client looking for an in-person session and wondered if I could help. I explained that I was based in California and couldn’t meet in person—but then I asked her something that would change everything:

She said yes.


Then she said something I’ll never forget: “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”


My First Psychic and Mediumship Reading


We met the following weekend over Zoom.


Almost immediately, she asked me to give her a psychic reading and tell her three things she had done that day.

I told her I couldn’t.


She insisted.


So I tried.


I shared three specific, non-routine things—details that wouldn’t normally be guessed. She confirmed all of them.


My first thought was that she was lying.


Then she asked me to give her a mediumship reading.


Again, I told her I didn’t know how.


She replied, “It’s easy. Just reach up and tell me who is there.”

So I did.


At first, I brought through someone who could have been anyone. Then I tried again.


This time, I connected with her deceased father-in-law and an old roommate. I described physical traits, personality, causes of death, and even details about pets connected to one of the spirits.

She confirmed about 90% of what I said.


And still, I didn’t believe it.


From Doubt to Development


Donna then arranged for me to read several of her clients.


My results were mixed—but something was clearly happening.


So I kept going.


I practiced. I read others who were learning. And slowly, something changed:


Consistency replaced randomness.

Confidence replaced doubt.

Structure replaced chaos.


What once felt like uncontrollable bursts of intuition began to feel like something I could access—something I could trust.

Looking back, the biggest surprise wasn’t that I had psychic ability.
