My Road to Being a Psychic Medium

I’ve always been a psychic medium—ever since I was a child. Honestly, I think most of us are.

But for me, it never felt controlled. It wasn’t something I could turn on or off. It was unpredictable…almost like a muscle spasm. It would just happen.

I never knew when. I never knew why. And if I tried to force it, nothing would come.

But it showed up constantly in my life.

I would know who was about to call the house—and why. It often felt like I was slightly out of sync with reality, like I was catching something just before it fully arrived.

I would see something in my mind and moments later, it would appear in the world or on television.

Sometimes I would sit bolt upright in bed for no reason at all—and seconds later, something would happen. A loud crash outside. A picture falling off the wall in the house. Something I couldn’t have predicted.

It wasn’t imagination.

It was happening.

Many Moments Stayed With Me

I was at a friend’s house as a kid when the phone rang. Before anyone answered it, I knew exactly who it was. It was my mom. She was calling to say my dog had been killed by a car. I instantly started crying as the phone was ringing, saying my dog had been killed. The man of the house slowly picked up the phone, looking at me with wide eyes, already knowing what he was about to hear.

And I was right.

Another time, I woke up from a nap in the car and suddenly knew something very specific. Around the next bend in the road, there was going to be a tunnel and a broken-down white car.

No one believed me. We had never been on that road before. But when we turned the corner and there it was.

Exactly as I had seen it.

The Quiet Knowing

Sometimes it showed up as a gut feeling.

I would know who to get close to and who to stay far away from.

Other times, I would see something in my mind about a person—something they had done or were doing—and later it would be confirmed as true.

This knowing as a steady pressence in my life as I grew up.

I’ve come to realize through my work as a psychic medium in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and the Coachella Valley that most people have had these sort of experiences

A gut feeling that turns out to be right.

A thought that comes out of nowhere—but carries weight.

A moment where you just know something…without knowing how you know.

We’re Not Separate from Spirit

Over time, something became very clear to me:

We’re not separate from spirit – we ARE spirit.

The body creates the illusion of separation and is the veil that seems to mute and separate us from the spirit world.

The body is just a vehicle. An identifier. And our true essence is spirit.

And once you begin to understand that, these experiences start to make sense and speed up.

The Day Everything Came Together

Years later, I was standing in my kitchen near Palm Springs, making lunch for a friend. It was in that familiar state—somewhere between focused and distant. Almost like a trance, when I had a thought I had many times before:

There has to be a way to develop this.

There has to be a way to understand it.

Right as that thought crossed my mind, my phone rang.

I answered.

A woman said, “My name is Donna. I’m a hypnotist in Florida. I have a client in Idaho, where you are, and he would like an in-person session. Well…actually, I’m also a psychic medium. But I was wondering if you could see my client in Boise?”

I paused.

Then I said, “I’m actually in California now, so I can’t see him in person. But I was just standing here thinking, ‘How do I develop my psychic mediumship?’…and then you called.”

She laughed softly and said:

“You know the old adage…when the student is ready, the teacher appears.”

When I Still Didn’t Believe It

We met that weekend over Zoom.

She didn’t ease into it. She immediately said, “Give me a psychic reading. Tell me three things I did this morning.”

I told her, “I don’t know how to do that.”

She said, “Yes, you do.”

She insisted.

So I stopped thinking and I allowed whatever came through…to come through.

I told her three very specific things about her morning—things that had nothing to do with typical, everyday routines.

She confirmed every single one.

Accurate.

And my first thought wasn’t, “This is real.”

It was…

She’s lying. (Some psychic I was!) I thought maybe she wanted something from me. Maybe this was leading into some kind of expensive program. I waited for the pitch.

It never came.

The Moment Mediumship Became Real

Instead, she said, “Okay. Now give me a mediumship reading.”

I told her I didn’t know how.

She said, “Sure you do. Just reach up and tell me who is there to talk to me.”

So I did.

The first person I brought through was too general.

She told me to go back and try again.

So I did.

This time, I brought through her deceased father-in-law…then an old roommate who had passed. Names came through, not perfect, but close. Milton was Millard, and Julie was dead on.

Physical characteristics. Personalities. Causes of death.

At one point, two cats came through connected to one of the spirits.

Detail after detail was verified. When it was over, I was about 90% accurate.

And I still didn’t believe it.

No Agenda — Just Experience

I kept waiting for the catch. The pitch. The moment where this turned into something else.

It never did.

Instead, she gave me something far more valuable.

She gave me real people to read. Three or four of her clients.

And I did the readings.

When It Became Impossible to Ignore

What came through during those sessions shocked me.

I was surprisingly accurate. The information was mostly there, and I couldn’t believe what I was experiencing.

Clear. Specific. Undeniable.

That’s when something started to shift.

Not all at once.

But enough that I couldn’t keep dismissing it.

Finding My Footing

After that, I started reading anyone who would sit still long enough.

I didn’t have a system. I didn’t have a method. I just kept showing up.

And over time, something changed.

What once felt random started to feel natural.

What once felt unpredictable started to make sense.

What felt like chaos began to be real.

What I Know Now

Now, as a psychic medium working with clients in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and throughout the Coachella Valley, I can see those early experiences for what they were.

They weren’t random. They were the beginning.

The same way so many people experience intuitive moments…then question them…dismiss them…or ignore them.
